Product Description

Lassi is the name given to yoghurt based Indian Drink to cool the effect of hot summers. Seasoned yogurt blended with water (or ice) forms the basic lassi having additives like fruits, spices, jaggery or sweeteners. While sweetened lassi is by far more popular, salted lassi has its own set of fans. Sweet lassi could have an added garnish / flavor of rose petals and salted lassi is typically flavored with cumin, mint leaves and fresh ginger.

The summer months in the northern parts of India, can be oppressively warm with temperatures easily crossing 50 Degree Celcius. The natural way to keep cool is to drink copious quantities of chilled lassi. The yogurt is naturally cooling and full of good bacteria that aid digestion. Today, lassi is made with almost every flavour under the sun. It is a great refreshment that can be taken with breakfast or lunch.

This Lassi Corner has been positioned as a “Quick Service Cafe” and proposes to offer traditional beverages like Lassi, Ice-creams, Milkshakes, Juices, Mock-tails, Coffee and Ready-to-eat Food Items. India has over a billion mouths to feed and this means that food & beverage business has a less or no chance of having a bad time because unlike everything else, people will not stop eating. Therefore, the proposed business can be started at any time of the year.

Consumer behaviour and preferences in the hospitality industry has changed dramatically, over the recent years. Today, Indians no longer need a reason or a special occasion to eat out. They simply eat out because they want to experiment, love food or spend their free time. The increasing trend of eating out in urban cities in India, across all the economic classes, without the need for any special occasion, has boosted the demand for QSRs. People increasingly prefer eating outside as a part of their leisure outings or shopping experience. This trend is mainly visible among the millennial age group of 25 to 40 years since there is lower willingness and lack of time to cook, leading to a strong preference for convenience. Moreover, with the growing exposure to international lifestyles and culture, more and more consumers (especially the younger crowd), are inclined towards the QSR segment, low-priced food and easy-to-go menus.

Rising per capita income and urbanization, increased participation of women in the workforce and acquaintance to western lifestyles are some of the key factors leading to growing demand for QSRs followed by casual dining. The standardization across food outlet chains in terms of ambiance, hygiene, time to service and easy accessibility has generated instant interest in the mind of the consumers, leading to an increase in the overall footfalls. While the average Indian consumer’s ability and willingness to spend on aspirations, experiments and socializing over food have increased, they continue to be cost-conscious and look at value for money options when eating out and cost-efficient functions when ordering in.
